Better off

During the last couple of days I was working on a song called "Better off". It was originally supposed to be included on "The crimson cabinet" following "Spindrift" after the instrumental closing part and without a gap. Unfortunately the recording didn't go well at the time. Henrik in particular didn't like it at all. After various fruitless attempts to bring the song to life, we decided to shelve the track, so "Spindrift" kind of fades into emptiness. One of a few reasons why I still have mixed feelings about the album. 

I stumbled across an earlier version of the song recently and to my surprise it doesn't sound too bad. So why not catching up with it.  But rather than continuing from this version, I decided to go back to square one and try a radically different approach. 

What I had in mind was a kind of inspired by a song of Aussie legends "Icehouse" entitled "Man of colours", mainly for the wonderful dreamy atmosphere of that song. Gladly my song has soon developed a life of its own, so I doesn't sound too much like "Icehouse". 

Some parts of this demo had to be assembled from midi loops or have been played through the keys of my notebook, as I don't have a keyboard at hand here in Rhodes. But it works great as the framework for a proper recording back home. So I am really happy to share a short clip with you, just to give an impression where the song will go. I didn't put much effort into the vocals, so they sound a little sloppy. Hope you don't mind.
